ALL ABOUT THE BRASS LAB
The Brass Lab provides an interactive education for brass musicians of all abilities, inspiring students to begin their musical journey. We teach the science behind music to give our students an insight into how music is created.
In partnership with the Pemberton Old Wigan DW Youth Band, we provide high quality music workshops to aid schools in enhancing their music curriculum. The direct link with the Pemberton Youth Band encourages students to get involved with local brass groups, free-of-charge.Â
Our workshop gives an introduction into the features of the brass family. We teach the properties of each instrument and how they fit into a brass band. Following this, students will listen to brass instruments within contemporary and popular music which makes our course relevant and up to date.Â
We teach basic music theory, rhythms and notes and then show how to produce these notes on an instrument provided. Each student will be encouraged to come and take part in Pemberton Bands Youth Band or continue with one-to-one lessons provided by The Brass Lab.
